WHITE DUFFY – Vera Dinah

Vera White-Duffy (nee Stockley) passed away peacefully on July 6, surrounded by her family, after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer. She was 49.

She is survived by her mother Minnie Stockley, her children Toby and Robbie White, her husband Jack Duffy, her twin sister Verna, her brothers Melvin, Roy, Wilbert, and John, her stepchildren Jacqueline, Kelly, and Graham, and her ex-husband Gary White. She is predeceased by her father Charles. Those whose lives she touched are too numerous to mention. She will be remembered by friends both here and in her home town as an amazing person, whose radiance and energy brightened the lives of so many. Her passion for life and concern for others will be deeply missed as her life was cut tragically short.

Vera was born in Twillingate, Newfoundland on December 10, 1955. She married Gary White and had two children, and lived and worked in Twillingate until 1990 when she moved to Alberta. In recent years she worked as a renovator in Strathmore and Calgary, and married Jack Duffy. She planned on furthering her education in order to achieve her dream of becoming an interior decorator.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 9 at 2:30pm at the Lord of All Lutheran Church in Strathmore. She may be remembered online at www.remembervera.ca

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit 47 of the Tom Baker Cancer Centre, or the Canadian Cancer Society.
